Diane

Hello Everyone! Let me introduce myself and tell you a little bit about me and my journey.
I am a 50+ yr old grandma with 4 beautiful granddaughters aging from almost 13 to 1 1/2 years old.
I enjoy coaching their volleyball teams, watching them play volleyball, basketball, and soccer.  I enjoy crafting with them as well.
I recently acquired my Group Exercise Instructor certification from NETA- National Exercise Trainers Association. I am certified in CROSS-HIIT-TABADA and HEALTH AND WELLNESS.  I am currently instructing at my local recreation center 2 days a week, I am blessed to have them see my vision regarding this program I am developing called "MY COMEBACK".  I will blog much more about that later.
I enjoy playing volleyball and pickleball when I get a chance.
I have been following a Ketogenic lifestyle for over a year and found GREAT success in the beginning.  I have since gotten a little lazy with watching my macros and my portions.  I am ready to get back on track and hit my health and fitness goals. I have created this page to hold myself accountable as well help anyone else that would like to join me.

WHAT IS “MY COMEBACK”?

“MY COMEBACK” is a developing vision I have for helping people like me who want to get their health and fitness back through lifestyle eating habits and fitness. This is not a one size fits all program. I aim to help you find what works for you as an individual. We are all created differently and should structure our lifestyles as such. I for instance do not do well with carbohydrates therefore I have chosen to follow a Ketogenic lifestyle, this may not work for someone else. I also prefer strength training to cardio training, I know I need both however I can develop ways to combine the two and trick my body into that cardio workout.
My class that I teach at the Eaton Rec Center is a class that I am developing and have named “MY COMEBACK” it is designed for those of us just getting back into the swing of things, after a multitude of reasons/excuses for not taking care of ourselves. It is a beginner class designed to make everyone comfortable in coming to a class with no intimidation. It worked out perfectly so that I am able to teach this LOW IMPACT- LOW TO MODERATE INTENSITY class 2 days a week for just 30 min. My plan is to not only teach this beginning class but to create a complete program, helping you to find your“MY COMEBACK”.

WHAT CAN “MY COMEBACK” DO FOR YOU?

March 15, 2020

You may be wondering, what can “MY COMEBACK” do for me?:

First- What is YOUR COMEBACK?
Are you coming back from?:
· Years of focusing on everyone else but you
· An Injury
· Surgery
· The Holidays
· A Vacation
· Illness
· Weekend Binge
· Too Much Work
What are your Motivators?
· Playing with children/Grandchildren
· Being a good role model
· Looking good in a bathing suit
· Spouse approval
· Self approval
· Health
· Going on Vacation
We’re all “COMING BACK” from something, we all have the ability to “COME BACK” from anything, we just have to take the first step.
“MY COMEBACK” is a way to motivate and encourage those first steps to health and wellness in a non judgmental and encouraging way. No products to buy no pushing the latest fad, just helping you find what works best for you, because everyone’s “COMEBACK” looks different.
That being said, I am not opposed to programs and products that help with your wellness, I have seen success with products like: Isagenix, ItWorks, Advocare, Atkins…etc. If a program that is more structured works for you like those, I have many contacts that can help you with those products. I personally like to use whole foods mostly, that I can readily find at my local grocery store, a healthy lifestyle does not have to be expensive. I do frequently use ready made bars and snacks, but prefer to make my own when I have time. I plan to share recipes on this page that I have personally tried and like.

What are you doing to stay on track during this craziness?

March 19, 2020

With all of the closures around us; gyms, recreation centers, schools, etc., and with the run on fresh meat and produce at our local grocery stores how do we stay on track?
Here are some ideas for getting that workout in:
· Another trainer and I, as well as our Rec Center we work for are posting workout videos, we are going live each morning- taking turns, then sharing our video with our supervisor so she can share it on that website as well.
· Go for a walk/run/hike/bike ride with those kiddos at home. (Weather permitting…As I’m writing this we are in blizzard mode in CO)
· If you are still working take your lunch break to go for a walk and get some natural Vitamin D. (Again weather permitting)
· Play some active games with your children outside or in the basement: simon says, red light / green light, red rover, build an obstacle course… the possibilities are endless.
· Check out YouTube for some great free workouts. Another website I like is www.fitnessblender.comit is a great resource for free workouts. *not a sponsor
Nutrition Ideas during this time: My daughter just went shopping this morning, she said it wasn’t terrible but she did have to buy bigger packages of things that her tween girls could make on their own, like mac and cheese. The meat section at the Wal-mart she went to was pretty picked over so she decided on a whole turkey she can cook up and meal prep with as well as freeze for later, she also picked up a ham to do the same with. She said the produce sections there and at our King Soopers (Kroger) weren’t bad this morning.
If you absolutely cannot find fresh meat, canned meat, like chicken, tuna, sardines...etc. can still provide great sources of protein, frozen veggies and fruits will also suffice. If you have to go to the canned veggie isle try to find the least amount of ingredients and ones you can pronounce.
We can all do our part by being kind, being smart, and helping one another. When you go to the store be aware that everyone needs to eat, make the best choices you can, contact your aging parents and neighbors and see if you can go out for them so they don’t have too.
REMIND FAMILY MEMBERS TO WASH THEIR HANDS THOUROUGHLY AND OFTEN, DON’T TOUCH YOUR FACE, AND FOR HEAVEN’S SAKE QUIT LICKING YOUR SISTER/BROTHER…..LOL
